ACE Construction Academy is an introductory course that teaches young people the methods, machinery, and materials used in the construction industry. Topics include cost estimation, building codes, blueprints, site layout and construction. Students work to obtain their CPR, First Aid, and MC3 training that is required for work in the construction field. Students receive hands on training with specialized equipment and techniques.
ACE’s Construction Academy is an important element to our YouthBuild program, integrating education with the rebuilding of low-income communities. The Construction Academy collaborates with other ACE programming and partners in the West San Fernando Valley to create construction projects that develop and strengthen communities. Some of these projects include nonprofit renovations, pop-up libraries in local community spaces, and energy conservation displays for the Department of Water and Power. Students gain the training and experiences to become employed in the construction industry, while developing their communities and developing leadership skills.
